Itinerary: North Vietnam Motorcycle Tour

DAY 1: Hanoi motorbike tour to Mai Chau (180 km ~ 110 miles)

Greet your tour guides and embark on a majestic journey through the lively, bustling traffic of Ha Noi. Travel along the dike road by the Red River as you make your way toward Son Tay.

Visit Duong Lam ancient village with the opportunity to sightsee and explore the architecture, narrow alleyways, temples and locals of this historical location

Take the back road through villages to Da river, we then take the small ferry across the river and cruise along to Hoa Binh, have lunch in Hoa Binh

In the afternoon, head to Mai Chau via Thung Khe mountain pass. Enjoy the beautiful rural Muong village and stunning scenery of mountains and valleys

Arrive in Mai Chau for relaxation or a walk to discover beautiful village of this picturesque valley

DAY 2: Mai Chau – Phu Yen (180 km ~ 110 miles)

Enjoy the fresh air of the valleys of Mai Chau in the morning

Begin your journey from Mai Chau to the Moc Chau Plateau, traveling along the scenic back roads that wind through rolling hills and verdant tea plantations. Along the way, take time to pause at the cascading waterfalls and visit a few local villages to immerse yourself in their rich culture and daily way of life.

Cruise to Van Yen ferry. Upon arrival, cross the river and take a moment to relax while soaking in the stunning views of one of Hoa Binhs largest reservoirs. Continue your peaceful journey to Phu Yen, passing through charming villages and picturesque rice fields along the route.

DAY 3: Phu Yen – Mu Cang Chai (180 km ~ 110 miles)

Leave Phu Yen heading to Lung Lo pass, enjoying the scenic  view and we Ride to Tu Le, a small town famous for magnificent terraced rice fields and visit a local village of Lim Mong to learn the way they making green rice food and special wine.

Travel to Khau Pha mountain pass, renowned as one of Vietnam’s most stunning landscapes. Upon reaching Mu Cang Chai, take in the breathtaking sight of the iconic rice terraces. These extraordinary formations stand as a tribute to the dedication and resourcefulness of the local communities who have skillfully farmed these steep slopes for generations.

DAY 4: Mu Cang Chai – Sapa (160 km ~ 100 miles)

Good morning to the enchanting Mu Cang Chai on your journey to Sapa.

This route guides you through some of Vietnam’s most breathtaking mountainous landscapes. Take time to visit the ethnic minority villages along the way, where you can delve into their rich culture and gain insight into their traditional rice cultivation practices.

Ascend to the O Quy Ho mountain pass, also known as Hoang Lien Son or Tonkin Alps, the Hill that never ends. This pass provides spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Stop briefly at Silver Waterfall as you make your way to Sapa. Spend the night in Sapa for a restful stay.

Day 5: Sapa – Thac Ba Lake (200km ~125miles)

Good morning from Sapa! Take a moment to enjoy the cool and tranquil atmosphere of this charming town.

We begin by following the picturesque road leading to Muong Hoa Valley, renowned as Sapa’s most stunning and iconic valley. The descent to Lao Chai and Ta Van reveals breathtaking terraced rice fields and the serene rural life of traditional villages belonging to the H’Mong, Giay, and Dao ethnic groups.

Cruise along the river toward Yen Bai, you’ll pass through verdant cinnamon and tea plantations, providing opportunities to engage with the Tay community and observe their everyday way of life.

Continuing onward to Luc Yen, you’ll be greeted by the beauty of the Thac Ba area. Riding along the countryside roads beside the lake, the scenery flattens into what is often called “Ha Long Bay on land.

Arrive at a peaceful hotel owned by a Dao family, nestled right on the lakeside. Enhance your experience with an optional local boat trip, allowing you to explore the serene lake dotted with its thousands of lush green islands.

Day 6: Thac Ba Lake – Ha Noi (160km ~100 miles)

Say good bye to Vu Linh at Thac Ba Lake as we start early to experience the serene morning mist over the lakes waters.

From there, we journey south toward Doan Hung. Take a brief stop at the renowned undulating green tea plantations, perfect for capturing photos and gaining insight into Vietnam’s traditional tea processing.

Continue riding to Viet Tri, a significant town where the Lo and Red Rivers converge. Here, you’ll have time for a snack and lunch break. In the afternoon, follow the dyke road along the Red River as we make our way back to Hanoi.

This marks the conclusion of the 6-day North West Vietnam Motorbike Tour.
